I suppose I am very lucky with my job as the Media Delegate for the FIA World Endurance Championship as it enables me to travel to a lot of exciting places. However, I have to be honest I love heading home but with long haul destinations comes the downside of spending a lot of time at airports and on a plane.
The flight back from Shanghai to London on Sunday took 12 hours and I broke up the boredom by using the Fuji X100 to shoot the scenery out of the window.

The X100 is ideal for this as it is small, has a moderately wide angle lens (35mm in full frame terms) and a silent shutter so it doesn't attract the attention of the cabin crew. The policy for take off and landing is to switch off all electronic equipment but how a camera is going to affect the aircraft systems is beyond me and as a former RAF engineer I don't believe it can.
Anyway here are some images and videos from my 12 hours trip back to London from Shanghai on British Airways Flight 168, which operated a Boeing 777-300.
