Shanghai Mushrooms

We are here at the Shanghai International Circuit in China for Round 7 of the FIA World Endurance Championship and yesterday, in my role of the FIA Media Delegate for the championship, I spent some time checking the photographer’s access around the track. This gave me an opportunity to have a closer look at the striking Shitake mushroom shaped roof on the grandstands lining the final two corners of the track.

I was drawn by the shapes of the roof, which are an overlapping set of elliptical structures that look like canvas or a similar material.   Using the 14mm f2.8 and 60mm f2.4 lenses on the X-Pro1 I was able to shoot a set of images to highlight the shapes and texture.
