REVIEW: Initial Impressions of the Video Function on the Fujifilm X-T1

One of the many reasons for getting the Fujifilm X-T1 is its ability to record full HD video with an external microphone, which is something the X-Pro1 and X100 doesn't have.  I use the video function on my cameras to record driver interviews and press conferences and the ability to use an external microphone is a huge advantage.

Up to now I have been favouring my Nikon D800 with the Nikon ME1 external microphone but I haven't been carrying the large Nikon outfit on the long haul races, preferring to use the HD video function on the X-Pro1 and using the internal microphone, which is not ideal.

This weekend at Silverstone i had the first opportunity to use the Fujifilm X-T1 in the qualifying press conference using the Nikon ME1 microphone.  To get it to work with the Fuji I had to use a 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter on the socket but that was the only issue.

The result was extremely good for streaming on the official FIA WEC Daily Motion feed.  I need to fine tune the X-T1 but first impressions of the video function are very good.
