The Waverley
We've just returned from the Isle of Skye where we attended wedding in Elgol on the south side of the island. A lack of mobile phone coverage meant we couldn't post any updates on the MacLean Communications blog so apologies for this.
When we were travelling back over the Skye Bridge we spotted a familiar sight coming towards us up the channel. The Waverley is the world's last remaining seagoing paddle steamer and we were lucky enough to catch it on its way up the channel between Skye and the mainland at Kyle of Lochalsh. Quickly pulling over and jumping out the car I managed to rattle off several shots of this iconic ship before continuing on our journey back to England.

Not the last paddle steamer .
ReplyDeleteI think there are several.
It may be the last sea going paddle steamer but there is also the Kingswear Castle doing river trips in Kent . Possibly there are others dotted around.
Nice photos though and a brilliant backdrop.
Thank you for the comments Roy. You are quite correct, the website says it's the last seagoing paddle steamer. I'd love to see some of the other remaining ships. However we were very lucky to see the Waverley against such a fantastic backdrop.
