Shooting Video with the Fujifilm X-T2 at the Red Bull Ring
On Thursday evening we held a special photoshoot with three of the drivers taking part in this weekend's European Le Mans Series event at the Red Bull Ring in Austria.
The images were taken by John Rourke of Adrenal Media, the official photographic agency for the ELMS, who is also a fellow X Photographer. John took the images on an X-T2 and I shot the proceedings on my X-T2 using the 4K 25P video mode. I then produced a 2 minute behind the scenes video, incorporating the three final still images (see below).
The drivers are Klaus Bachler, the only Austrian driver on the Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup grid, reigning 24 Hours of Le Mans LMP2 champion Nicolas Lapierre and current ELMS LMP3 points leader Alex Brundle.
The still images used on this blog were taken straight from the 4K video. One of the great things with shooting 4K is the ability to take large still images that measure 3840 pixels x 2060 pixels.
Here is the video that was produced for the ELMS and GT3 Le Mans Cup websites and social media feeds.
The video function on the X-T2 is very easy to use and I find have the video function selected on the drive dial rather than by pressing a function button as it is on the X-T1 and X-Pro2 a very useful change.
The AF on the video function is also much more usable but it still did occasionally hunt during the shooting of this video.
All in all the video on the X-T2 is far superior than the function on the previous X Series cameras. I will be practicing my video skills a lot more in the coming weeks.
