When the Boats Come In
A trip down to Dunbar Harbour on Monday evening gave me the perfect opportunity to capture some images at sunset of the fishing boats returning home after a hard days fishing out in the North Sea.
Two of the boats, the Arcturus (above) and the Spitfire (below) came back trailing the usual flock of seagulls looking for an easy meal on the leftovers as the Dunbar fishermen worked to prepare their catch for loading onto waiting vans back at the dock.
I then headed round to the main harbour to get some low light shots using the X-Pro1 and 35mm f1.4 lens, which was a perfect choice in the failing light after sunset.
Dunbar has a centuries old tradition of fishing and the harbour is very much a working harbour first and a leisure / tourist port second. These scenes are repeated each day as these hard working men go out to catch the fish we eat. Long may they continue to work from the town's harbour.
