Another Night in Paris

With the launch of the 2013 FIA World Endurance Championship grid and the unveiling of the entries for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in Paris today, I travelled to the 'City of Light' yesterday to help prepare for welcoming the 300 guests.

However I can't visit Paris and not take a few pictures, it's just not possible.  So I took 60-minutes to visit the Arc de Triomphe and then walk down to the River Seine to take some long exposure shost of the Eiffel Tower on the Fuji X100. I came equipped with the Manfrotto MKC3-H01 Compact Tripod so I was able to take long exposures at each of the venues.

The first shots were taken at the Arc de Triomphe, with the long exposure of 30 seconds making the lights of the busy Parisian traffic blur into trails of white and red.  The ornate lamps that line the road have lion heads on their base so I decided to set the aperture to f16 so to maximise the depth of field  and get the lions in the foreground.

I then headed down to the Seine and took some long exposure shots of the Eiffel Tower.  A two minute exposure produced a beautiful blurry sky as the clouds were moving quite quickly in the strong wind.

The final shot was taken of the Metro sign at the bottom of Avenue Georges V with the Eiffel Tower in the background.  I decided to make the shot into a black and white as it suited the image.
