The Gegan and Tantallon Castle
At the western end of Seacliff Beach is an area known as The Gegan, a rocky outcrop with a tiny harbour, arguably the smallest in Scotland, that was carved out of the rock with the help of a steam engine at the end of the 19th Century by the then owner of Seacliff. In the distance there is a fantastic view of the ruins of Tantallon Castle, the 14th Century stronghold of the Douglases (there will be more on Tantallon Castle in later blogs).
