Stefan Mucke - no66 Ford GT As part of the build up to any weekend on the FIA World Endurance Championship calendar six drivers are invited to the pre event press conference. The drivers could be invited because they are from the host country or they are leading the championship or had a good race in the previous round.  For the 6 Hours of Nurburgring three German drivers were there - Timo Bernhard (Porsche), Stefan Mucke (Ford) and Marvin Dienst (Dempsey Proton Racing).  The other drivers were Anthony Davidson (GBR) from Toyota, Vitaly Petrov (RUS) from CEFC Manor TRS Racing and David Cheng from Jackie Chan DC Racing. This weekend I am in Germany for Round 4 of the FIA World Endurance Championship and after the thrills and spills of Le Mans, the WEC returns to the 6-hour format at the Nurburgring. I went trackside during the first two Free Practice sessions yesterday in my capacity as the FIA Media Delegate to shoot some images from various locations around the circuit to check that the access was OK for the other photographers.  I also had to get some images for FIA.com, the official website for the world governing body of motor sport, who I work for on the WEC. I decided that some of the images would look better in black and white so I convert them in NIK Silver Efex Pro2 in post production. If you read this blog on a regular basis you will be aware that I love the 12:5 panoramic format.  For motorsport I tend to shooting full frame images with this in mind so I can crop in post production or I shoot images using the X-T1 / X-T2s panoramic mode in camera.  However this isn't possible for action shots so all of the images here were shot and then cropped in post production. These were shot at the Nurburgring last weekend with some during Free Practice on Friday and some on Sunday at the start of the 6 Hours of Nurburgring, round 4 of the FIA World Endurance Championship. The race was eventually won by the no1 Porsche of Mark Webber, Brandon Hartley and Timo Bernhard. Today is race day for the FIA World Endurance Championship at the Nurburgring in Germany.  Yesterday was misty and wet with dry spells which did provide some interesting track conditions for qualifying.   On the way back to the hotel in Nurburg the cloud cover that had engulfed the castle overlooking the circuit started to appear just after sunset, so I grabbed the X-T2 and XF50-140mm f2.8 and walked up the road from the hotel to get a few images. This weekend I am at the Nurburgring for Round 4 of the FIA World Endurance Championship.  Yesterday was the first day of track action with two 90-minute Free Practice sessions.   I went trackside in my capacity as the FIA Media Delegate to check on the restricted areas (Red Zones) around the track and to make sure the photographers were observing the safety rules I had given them earlier in the day at the Photographers Safety Briefing.
