London Launch of the World Endurance Championship

Image
Apologies that it has been a bit quiet here on the MacLean Photographic blog over the past week but we've been busy preparing for the upcoming season of the World Endurance Championship.   After spending eight days in the South of France last week for the official tests, yesterday we were in London with five cars and eight of our drivers in front of Marble Arch for a media photo call and a chance for the public to see the competitors up close. The five cars were the Audi R18, Toyota TS030, the brand new Nissan GT-R LM NISMO, the Aston Martin Vantage V8 and the Ferrari 458 Italia.   We lined the cars up in front of Marble Arch and placed the World Endurance Manufacturer's Championship Trophy and the 110 Year Old Tourist Trophy, which will be awarded to the winners of next weekend's opening race at Silverstone. Silverstone Photo Call

Part of the build up for the opening race of the 2014 FIA World Endurance Championship season is the traditional driver group photograph on the steps of the Silverstone Wing on Friday morning.  This is done straight after drivers briefing and it is my job to organise this for 80+ drivers and 100+ media.  At least the weather played ball as well. The shots were taken on the Fujifilm XT-1 + Fujinon 18mm f2 lens.  The new XT-1 continues to impress me.  Because my current Lightroom 4 doesn't read the RAW files from the XT-1 (Lightroom 5 has been ordered) all the images taken this week are JPEGs straight out the camera with minimal adjustments.  The JPEG output from the XT-1 is astounding and I will report back on this when I start my review of my first week with the new Fuji.  So far the XT-1 is living up to the reputation it has been getting online and in the photographic press.   --------------------------------------------------------...

Silverstone Set Up Day

Image
Thursday at Silverstone was the day for completing all the checks and putting the final touches to the paddock ahead of this weekend's opening round of the FIA World Endurance Championship.   It gave me the opportunity to test out my new Fujifilm XT-1, which I bought on Tuesday and will compliment the X-Pro1 and X100 I already have in my camera bag.  Initial impressions are very, very good but I will do a proper round up of this camera in due course on this blog. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE SUPPORT THIS BLOG BY CLICKING THE GOOGLE ADVERTS It doesn't cost you anything to click on an advert but we get a small fee for every click thru from Google and this helps support this blog - thank you for helping ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ALL IMAGES ARE THE PROPERTY OF MA...

A Man With Four Top Class Awards

On Tuesday I had lunch at the Royal Automobile Club in London watching Allan McNish receiving the Segrave Trophy.  That is the World Endurance Championship Driver's trophy he is holding with the Tourist Trophy, 24 Hours of Le Mans winners trophy and the Segrave Trophy at the back. Quite an impressive haul of silverware in just one season.
