CAPTURE NEW HORIZONS

The outer marker at Seacliffe is a favourite place of mine for early morning photography.  A few weeks ago I headed out to the beach to catch the sunrise and, with the low tide, a closer look at the marker.   The cross marks the southern end of an invisible line, with an identical marker on the Fife coast on the northern shore.  To the left of this marker is the Firth of Forth and to the right is the North Sea and is there to tell the merchant ships when they will have to start paying port fees. Yesterday we went for a walk on the beach at Seacliff as the East Lothian coast was bathed in beautiful late summer sunshine.  As we were walking on the beach looking out towards Bass Rock the rain clouds started to roll in along the Firth of Forth, providing a dramatic backdrop. The Gannets are still on The Bass and the dark clouds provided the perfect counter point to the sunlit birds on and above the island.  On the other side of the bay at Seacliff is the outer marker for the Firth of Forth.  This was also being lit by the sun as the clouds rolled in and so I took a couple of shots before the sun disappeared behind the clouds.
