Sunny Start to Race Day at Spa

Image
The circuit at Spa-Francorchamps is famous for two things - producing fantastic racing and for it's changable weather.   Today is race day for round 2 of the FIA World Endurance Championship and the sun is shiny for the first time this week so when the opportunity arises to take a sunrise over the circuit and the Ardennes forest you just have to take the picture. The shot at the top of the page was taken on the Fujifilm GFX50S and the GF32-64mm f4 with a Lee 0.9 ND Soft Grad filter.  The shot below was taken on the X-T20, which I also have on test but have to admit I have been neglecting in favour of its medium format brother.  I will be taking the X-T20 trackside later today alongside the X-T2 to give it a proper test. Fingers crossed the weather stays fine for the race which starts at 14h30 local time. La Forêt Domaniale de Perseigne

Image
On my excursion north of Le Mans I headed out into La Forêt Domaniale de Perseigne, a large forest area 40km north of the city.   With the sun shining through the canopy the sun was lighting up parts of the trees and the ground cover and provided me with ample opportunity to shoot images of sunlit elements of the forest. For lovers of nature, the forest is home to many animal species (deer, squirrels, boar...), they can observe at leisure. Personia was the first name given to the forest of Perseigne by Caesar's Legions. Royal forest until 1791, it became property of the State. The massif extends today more than 5,000 acres, offering a wide variety of passages through the trees to the delight of hikers.
