At the Fringe
The Edinburgh Festival, the world's greatest arts show, which lasts from the 7th to 31st August. Living in Dunbar we are lucky enough to be just 30-miles from the centre of Edinburgh and this year we have decided that we are going to take in a few shows.
Yesterday we spent the afternoon walking the Royal Mile and Grassmarket picking up leaflets and watching some of the street entertainers. We also took in a comedy show before heading home.
The amount of shows is bewildering and you could get overwhelmed by the sheer number of acts that are available to see across hundreds of venues in the city. The Edinburgh Fringe have a brilliant APP available for IoS and Android. I would recommend downloading this if you are attending the Festival, it certainly helps sort out what is available and where everything is located.
You also have to be careful with your money, it can be expensive. Even the free shows expect a donation, which is only fair if the act is good. But you could just walk the streets, soak up the electric atmosphere and watch the street entertainers. This will cost you very little money.
Next weekend we head to Edinburgh again as we have tickets to watch Australian comedian Adam Hills (Channel 4s 'The Last Leg') but we intend to go for the whole day and take in as many shows as we can.
