Located a couple of miles east of North Berwick, Seacliff features a small sandy beach looking out towards Bass Rock one mile out in the Firth of Forth.  At this time of year the small island is covered in gannets as up to 150,000 birds call this part of Scotland home from March until October.  We were treated to some fantastic diving displays as the birds fished just off the beach for most of the day. UPDATE SATURDAY 3 MARCH:  Due to the winter weather the event organisers have called off next weekend's rally.   CLICK HERE to see the official press release MacLean Photographic will be running a workshop on the Border Counties Rally on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 March in the Scottish Borders. Based in the town of Jedburgh each day will consist of photographing the start, a special stage out in the forests and a service area.  Professional motorsport photographer Jeff Carter will be your host on each day and will teach you how to get  some stunning images from the cars competing in the British and Scottish Rally Championships from the spectator areas. There will be a maximum of three people on each day so you will be guaranteed to have Jeff's attention to help you improve your photography. Over the winter I am working on some new videos to promote the 2018 MacLean Photographic Workshops.  As part of this I have decided to include some aerial shots of the locations where the workshops will take place. After two weeks on the road in Texas and in Belgium I now have a few days at home in Dunbar and today I hosted my first Back to Basics workshop for nearly a month. As usual the workshop was conducted in and around the beautiful working harbours we have in Dunbar.  We first visited the older Cromwell Harbour before moving across to the newer (and by newer I mean 19th century) Victoria Harbour. While we were walking about the 'Acturus' came back into harbour from a trip out into the North Sea and we were able to get some close up shots of the boat as she came through the harbour entrance by the castle. Today I hosted a MacLean Photographic Woodland Exploration workshop here in East Lothian and after a week of torrential rain and howling winds the weather gods decided to smile on me and abate for the day. This morning was spent up at Innerwick Castle, exploring the woodland around the old ruin.  With bright sunlight filtering through the trees we were able to shoot some of the ferns and fungi that were spotlit by the natural light piercing the canopy of leaves above our heads. After a spot of lunch we headed out to Tyningham for a walk through the woods and along the shoreline, capturing the flowers and trees in this wonderful natural woodland setting.
