Launch of 2016 Audi R18

Image
Yesterday I flew to Munich for the Audi Sport 2015 review where the German manufacturer celebrated their achievements during the past 12 months. The evening concluded with the revealing of the 2016 Audi R18 e-tron quattro, the car Audi Sport are confident that will regain them the World Endurance Championship that they last won in 2013 and also score them their 14th victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Sitting in the audience I was only able to get this shot of the car as it was unveiled as the covers went back on as the presentation came to a close.  There are some official shots of the new car on the Audi website.  The image above was taken on the Fujifilm X-T1 and the XF18mm f2. This morning I am heading back to Scotland for a few days before I head to Paris for the FIA Awards Gala, the official closing event of the 2015 season where all the world champions for WEC, F1, WRC, WRX and WTCC will receive their trophies. --------------------------------------------...

A Man With Four Top Class Awards

On Tuesday I had lunch at the Royal Automobile Club in London watching Allan McNish receiving the Segrave Trophy.  That is the World Endurance Championship Driver's trophy he is holding with the Tourist Trophy, 24 Hours of Le Mans winners trophy and the Segrave Trophy at the back. Quite an impressive haul of silverware in just one season. On the World Endurance Championship Grid in Spa

Image
Round 2 of the FIA World Endurance Championship took place at Spa-Francorchamps at the weekend.  The weather was glorious and completely different to the forecast ahead of the event.  On the grid the cars were covered with reflective screens to stop the cockpits overheating before the race began and the driver and mechanics enjoyed the sunshine while the VIPs mingled on the grid ahead of the 6 hour race. Ready to go to Work

Fujifilm Finepix X100 - 19mm f2 (WCL-X100 fitted) - 1/750 @ f2.8 - ISO200 Most of us drive to our place of work but when Allan McNish climbs aboard the Audi R18 e-tron quattro in the FIA World Endurance Championship he is at work and the cockpit of the car is his office. This was taken on the grid for the opening round of the FIA WEC at Silverstone last Sunday, a race that he and teammates, Tom Kristensen and Loic Duval won putting them at the top of the leader board for the 2013 world title.  The next round will take place on the 4 May at the awesome Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium, the last test before the 'big one', the 24 Hours of Le Mans on 22/23 June. I took this shot as I made my way off the grid on my trusty Fuji X100 with the WCL-X100 wide angle converter lens fitted to the camera.  The shot was then converted to mono in Silver Efex Pro 2 with some dodging and burning in Photoshop Elements 11. ---------------------------------------------...
