CAPTURE NEW HORIZONS

Over the next few weeks we will be reviewing our year and what a year it has been.  We have traveled to the USA, Brazil, Japan, China, Bahrain, Qatar, France, Belgium, Austria, Italy, Portugal with the FIA World Endurance Championship and the European Le Mans Series.   However the highlight of 2014 we are starting with first are the cars we have driven and photographed this year. It started in March with the Aston Martin Vantage S V12 ( HERE ) which we had for two days to write a report for the official FIA WEC website and for the Silverstone programme.  This was an amazing car and a personal dream come true to have the exclusive use of an Aston Martin on the road for two whole days. The Porsche 911 Turbo S road test feature has been published on the FIA World Endurance Championship website with the words I penned from the 3-day trip to Stuttgart and a selection of images taken with the X-T1 and X-Pro1. You can read my thoughts about the car that I had for three days and drove for over 2000km HERE but to say I had an amazing time would be a slight understatement.  This is a phenomenal machine, possibly the best GT car on the road today.   At £140,000 it isn't a cheap runabout but it certainly makes the senses tingle when you are driving along.  I've now had the privilege of testing a Porsche 911 Turbo S, an Aston Martin Vantage S V12 and an Audi R8 .  I am now talking to Ferrari to produce a similar feature with a 458 as they are the last of the three GTE manufacturers that race with us in the FIA WEC. Last Saturday I posted some test shots of the X-T1 and the Manfrotto 241V Suction Grip using my own Honda Civic as the test car ( BLOG HERE ) .  Over the past three days I have been on a road trip from Reading in Berkshire to Stuttgart in Germany for a feature I am writing on the Porsche 911 Turbo S.  Why Reading and Stuttgart?  Well Reading is the UK Headquarters for Porsche and Stuttgart is home for the German sports car manufacturer. The reason I bought the Manfrotto 241V was to use on this long drive to get some different angles while I drove.  Using the Fujifilm X-T1 I was able to control the camera through the Camera App on my Google Nexus Tablet. I placed the Manfrotto in several positions on the car, either on the glass or on the bodywork and the vacuum pump built into the 241V provided the grip needed to keep the camera in place and steady.  Speeds were kept to below 50mph but if the Manfrotto did lose grip the camera would've been on the ...
