Lighthouse at Ardgour

Image
This shot of the Corran Lighthouse at Ardgour was taken on the Fuji X100 while waiting for the ferry across the mouth of Loch Linnhe.  The lighthouse is no longer in use but is now self catering accommodation.   FROM THE WEBSITE:   Corran Lighthouse Lodge is situated on the shoreline of Loch Linnhe, a beautiful tidal sea loch on the West Coast of Scotland near Fort William.  Accommodating up to 10 guests in five en-suite bedrooms the Lodge is at the gateway to the magical Ardnamurchan peninusla.  From the Lodge there are fabulous views down Loch Linnhe across to the magnificent Glencoe mountain range and Ben Nevis.   CLICK HERE for the website. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE SUPPORT THIS BLOG BY CLICKING THE NEW GOOGLE ADVERTS It doesn't cost you anything to click on an advert but we get a small fee for every click thru from Google and this helps support t...

Old Puffer at the Mouth of Loch Linnhe

Image
This image was taken on our way back from the Isle of Mull at the start of June while we were waiting to board the Corran Ferry at the mouth of Loch Linnhe.  This old fishing boat was beached on the shore near to the ferry terminal and is starting the decay.   But as with my favourite derelicts in Salen Bay on Mull, the old Puffer provide a good photographic subject for my little Fuji X100. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE SUPPORT THIS BLOG BY CLICKING THE NEW GOOGLE ADVERTS It doesn't cost you anything to click on an advert but we get a small fee for every click thru from Google and this helps support this blog - thank you for helping ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ALL IMAGES ARE THE PROPERTY OF MACLEAN PHOTOGRAPHIC AND CANNOT BE USED FOR ANY PURPOSE WITHOUT PRIOR PERMISSION ...

Ferry Travel, Scottish Style

We've just arrived back in Grantham after a wonderful week on the Isle of Mull. It is a long and boring 10 hours of driving back from the West Coast of Scotland but the highlight is the two ferry crossings we have to take. Unlike crossing the English Channel on a ferry (I prefer to take the Tunnel), a ferry crossing in Scotland is much more of an adventure as the scenery is stunning. The Lochaline ferry arriving at the Fishnish terminal The first crossing on our way home is the 20-minute journey from Fishnish on the Isle of Mull over to Lochaline on the mainland. I always prefer to travel the other way and land in Fishnish but it is still a great place to take a ferry as the Sound of Mull is beautiful. The Sound of Mull from the ferry The second ferry is the short 5 minute journey across the bottom of Loch Linnhe just south of Fort William.  This crossing cuts out a 35 mile trip around the Loch and once across we then head south through Glen Coe and Rannoch Moo...
