CAPTURE NEW HORIZONS

May saw me travel to Belgium for the FIA WEC at one of my favourite circuits in the world,  Spa-Francorchamps, and my first trip to Imola for the European Le Mans Series which was also a personal journey to the site of Ayrton Senna's crash in 1994 and the memorial to my racing hero on the inside of Tamburello Curve. However the highlight of the month was our annual trip to the Isle of Mull in Scotland which saw one of my ambitions ticked off when we saw wild White Tailed Sea Eagles on my birthday.  However my favourite image from the month of May was this shot of the waterfall on the trip up to the ridge below Ben More, the highest mountain on the Isle of Mull. The image was taken on the Nikon D800 and 17-35mm f2.8 lens.  The 30 second exposure was acheived by using a Lee 10x Big Stopper ND filter and a tripod. On our visits to Mull we try to visit as many places on the island as possible but the Ross of Mull, on the south side of the island hasn't had much attention from us on the last couple of trips.  We decided to change this in 2013 and we took a drive to Burnessan alongside Loch Scridain. At 3169ft (966m) Ben More (Beinn Mhòr in Gaelic, meaning "great mountain") is the only 'Munro' on the Isle of Mull.  A Munro is a Scottish mountain over 3000 feet (914 metres).  In the 2012 revision of the tables, published by the Scottish Mountaineering Club, there are 282 Munros and 227 further subsidiary tops. The best known Munro is Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the British Isles. Today we went for a walk up towards Ben More, the only 'Munro' on the Isle of Mull.  A Munro is a Scottish mountain over 3000 feet (1000 metres) and there are over 250. On the way up there is a series of waterfalls and this one is probably the most spectacular.
