The Lake District from the Road Side

Image
Grisdale - Fujifilm X-T2 + XF16-55mm f2.8 The Lake District in the North West corner of England is like a honey pot for landscape photographers and it is almost impossible to not get a good shot no matter how hard you try.   OK perhaps I exaggerate a little but there are photo opportunities all around you and you don't need to walk miles off the beaten track to get the shot. All of these images here were either taken a few yards from the roadside or off the back a boat, I didn't have to walk far, mainly because I didn't have the opportunity to walk far off the beaten track on this trip. All of the images were taken on the Fujifilm X-T2, with four taken on the XF16-55mm f2.8 and one on the XF50-140mm f2.8 lenses. Shooting Sport as a Spectator Part 7: Autograss

Image
Yesterday the latest edition of 'Shooting Sport as a Spectator' was published on the Fujifilm website following my trip to the Central Scotland Autograss Club event a couple of weeks ago.   I can now publish some of the other images that made the cut for the Fujifilm feature and some that didn't. I have put all the images into a special folder on the MacLean Photographic FLICKR pages HERE CLICK HERE  to see the latest feature in full  on the Fujifilm website ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE SUPPORT THIS BLOG BY VISITING THE ADVERTISERS ON THIS PAGE By clicking on the adverts you are helping support this blog - thank you. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ALL I...

Storm Clouds Gather over Doon Hill Barley Field

Image
One of my favourite spots to visit in and around Dunbar is Doon Hill with its sweeping views of the East Lothian countryside and coastline. We made the trip up to the hill earlier today, dodging the bands of heavy rain sweeping across the coast from the west.  The fields at the top of the hill are filled with barley, which is nearly time for harvesting. As we walked up the sunlight hitting the golden crop contrasted nicely with the dark skies as the next rain front moved in. I captured a nice set of images before the rain came down using the X-T2 fitted with the 100-400mm and 50-140mm zooms plus the 90mm f2 prime. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE SUPPORT THIS BLOG BY VISITING THE ADVERTISERS ON THIS PAGE By clicking on the adverts you are helping support this blog - thank you. --------------------------------...

Sunset at Belhaven Bay

Image
For the past few months my work schedule has been pretty hectic and there has been little opportunity to take some landscape images around my home in Dunbar for my own pleasure.   Yesterday evening we had returned from a day in Glasgow, which had been pretty wet and overcast, and I saw that the clouds were breaking up as the sun began to set. So grabbing the camera bag and walking the 500 metres to the clifftop walk overlooking Belhaven Bay I set the X-T2 on the Manfrotto tripod to take some long exposure images.   Looking west towards The Law at North Berwick I put the XF50-140mm f2.8 on the camera and fitted the lens with a Lee 0.9 ND Soft Grad and a Lee 10x ND (Big Stopper) to give me an exposure time of 50 seconds at f22 with an ISO setting of 100. With the motor racing season resuming in just under three weeks time I intend to get out more locally to capture some more landscape images of my local area. ---------------------------------------------------...

Autograss High Speed Action

Image
On Saturday I went along to the Central Scotland Autograss Club event at Avonbridge to shoot the next feature in the series of Shooting Sport as a Spectator for Fujifilm UK and also shoot a series of images for an upcoming feature in a national newspaper. Because I was fulfilling two roles I signed on as media to shoot the newspaper images but shot all of the pictures and video I needed for the Fujifilm feature from the spectator areas.   However I did shoot a number of images from the inside of the track thanks to the media access granted by the club. Here are some action images taken from the inside of the oval track. All of the images were shot on a Fujifilm X-T2 with the exception of the main image at the top of the page, which was shot on an X-Pro2 and XF16-55mm f2.8 lens.  The two X-T2 bodies were fitted with an XF50-140mm f2.8 and a XF100-400mm f4.5/5.6 zoom lens.
