Five X Photographers at the 24 Hours of Le Mans

Image
Yesterday morning the five Fujifilm ambassadors who are covering the 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans gathered in the pitlane for a quick picture. As well as using the X-T2 and XF Fujinon lenses to capture this year's high profile event, four of the X-Photographers are also using the new medium format GFX system. Left to Right - Jeff Carter (UK), Dirk Bogaerts (BEL), John Rourke (UK), Jacky Ley (FRA), Andrew Hall (AUS). Road to Le Mans Group Shot

Image
Round 2 of the 2017 Michelin Le Mans Cup is the Road to Le Mans event supporting the world famous 24 Hours of Le Mans.   The two 55-minute races take place on the full 13.6km track, which is part permanent race circuit and part public roads, and gives the drivers competing in LMP3 and GT3, which aren't eligible for the big race, an opportunity to race at La Sarthe. Yesterday evening we gathered 12 of the Le Mans Cup competitors at the final corner of the circuit to be photographed by the 'Le Mans' sign painted on the track.  Official WEC photographer was 20 feet above the cars dirceting me while I placed each car in position with the aid of the teams. While John was photographing the cars from up high I used the Fujifilm GFX and GF32-64mm f4 lens and the X-T2 and XF10-24mm f4 lens to get some shots from ground level. More From Le Pesage at Le Mans

Image
Today I have spent the day working at the circuit ahead of the start of track action tomorrow, which will see cars on the 13.6km right up until midnight. Yesterday was the final day of scrutineering in the centre of Le Mans and I have edited some of my images from the event. The images were taken on the GFX50S with a GF32-64mm f4 lens or an X-T2 with a XF10-24mm f4 or XF50-140mm f2.8.  I tried to capture the festival atmosphere in the warm French summer sunshine in the Place de la Republique. Le Mans Day 2: Sarrazin Selfie at Le Mans

Image
I am supplying  Fujifilm UK  an image a day for their social media feed for the eight days of the 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans.   Today is the second day of Le Pesage, the two day scrutineering in the Place de la Republique in the centre of Le Mans.  The Porsche LMP1 team completed their administration and technical checks and today it was the turn of Toyota. I was on the photographers platform to take the standard team picture but afterwards I spotted the drivers giving autographs and posing for selfies with the fans.  I headed over and managed to catch Stephane Sarrazin posing with some Toyota fans using the Fujifilm GFX50S and GF32-64mm f4 lens. There will be more shots posted over the next seven days as we begin the countdown to the 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans which starts on Saturday 17 June at 15h00 (CET). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE SUPPORT THIS BL...

Porsche Official Picture at Le Mans

Image
For the next eight days I will be supplying Fujifilm UK an image a day for their social media feed from the 24 Hours of Le Mans.   Today is the first day of Le Pesage, the two day scrutineering in the Place de la Republique in the centre of Le Mans.  Once each team has completed all of the technical and administration checks they all gather for the official photograph. I joined the rest of the media on the photographers platform to get a ultra wide angle shot of the proceedings.  Using the Fujifilm X-T2 and the Samyang 8mm f2.8 fisheye I captured this shot from behind my fellow photographers, with Porsche's official photographer Jurgen Tap standing above everyone else to ensure he got the shot. There will be more shots posted over the next seven days as we begin the countdown to the 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans which starts on Saturday 17 June at 15h00 (CET). -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------...

VIDEO: Isle of May Landing Trip

Image
A couple of weeks ago I made my annual landing trip out to the Isle of May off the coast of Dunbar on the border of the North Sea and the Firth of Forth. The Isle of May is home to over 200,000 seabirds and is well worth a visit for anyone interested in the world of nature.  The boat trips are run by the Scottish Seabird Centre in North Berwick and the island is maintained by Scottish Natural Heritage. Isle of May Landing 2017 from Fujifilm X Adventure on Vimeo . Taking the fast RIB from North Berwick harbour the trip out took around 25-minutes.  When we landed we were met by one of the wardens, who gave us a quick talk about the dos and don'ts while on the island and then we had the choice of joining our guide or take ourselves off around the small island. Because this was my third trip out to the Isle of May I and my fellow photographers headed up to the north of the island to see if we could find some Puffins before the other two boats from Anstruther do...
