Copyright - Powerboat P1 - www.p1superstock.co.uk After the launch of the Fujifilm X-treme project on Tuesday, the first event is unveiled today with John Rourke of Adrenal Media and Jeff Carter of MacLean Photographic traveling to Greenock in Scotland for the Powerboat P1 Superstock racing at the Scottish Grand Prix of the Sea on 24/25 June 2017. The P1 Scottish Grand Prix of the Sea is the second round of the UK championships for one-design powerboats and last year the event proved to be a massive success with over 30,000 spectators lining the Esplanade in Greenock. The P1 Superstock series returns to Scotland next month and Fujifilm X-treme will be there to cover the event. As well as shooting the event itself, Fujifilm X-Treme have linked up with one of the race teams, the Spirit of Inverclyde. The Scottish crew from the historic town of Musselburgh on Scotland’s east coast, is driver Davie Finlayson with his daughter Ashleigh alongside him in the cockpit as naviga...

Green Light for Fujifilm X-Treme Project

Image
Today is the launch of Fujifilm X-Treme, a project to showcase the Fujifilm digital camera systems in extreme sport and documentary environments.   Fujifilm X Photographers John Rourke of Adrenal Media and Jeff Carter of MacLean Photographic will be testing the Fujiflm X Series and GFX medium format cameras around the world on specific projects for Fujifilm. Fujifilm X-Treme will showcase the camera systems in different arenas both to the camera buying public and to other professional photographers, who may not have considered Fujifilm as an alternative to their current cameras. Welcome to Fujifilm X-Treme from Fujifilm X Adventure on Vimeo . It will also provide imagery for the Fujifilm Marketing department as well as real life feedback for the research and development department back in Japan as the engineers work on the next generation of the X Series. “I have been using Fujifilm cameras for all of my work over the past two years,” said John Rourke...

On the Michelin Le Mans Cup grid

Image
Yesterday afternoon Monza hosted the opening round of the Michelin Le Mans Cup and I was on the grid before the start of the race to shoot a few images of the teams and drivers during the build up to the two hour race. I used the Fujifilm GFX50S fitted with the GF32-64mm f4 lens to capture these images.  They were all shot with the aperture set at f4 to give the shallowest depth of field as possible. This is the perfect environment for the GFX, capturing some behind the scenes environmental portraits and the resulting medium format images stand out from the images produced on full frame or crop frame cameras. Today is round 2 of the European Le Mans Series and with 36 cars on the grid it should be a great race in the Italian sunshine at Monza. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE SUPPORT THIS BLOG BY VISITING THE ADVERTISERS ON THIS PAGE By c...

VIDEO: ELMS Rising Stars - Ross Gunn

Image
This weekend at the European Le Mans Series event at Monza I filmed the first interview with young driver Ross Gunn, who is racing the GTE class with the Beechdean AMR team alongside team owner Andrew Howard and Aston Martin Racing works driver Darren Turner. Ross won the British GT4 title in 2015 and went on to win the Aston Martin Academy shootout at Bahrain at the end of the season in front of all the FIA World Endurance Championship teams. This year Ross has stepped up to the European stage and will make his debut at the world famous 24 Hours of Le Mans next month. We will be following two young drivers, French pilot Yann Ehrlacher and British hotshot Ross Gunn and here is the first episode with Ross. ELMS Rising Stars : Episode 01 Ross Gunn at... von ELMS The video was shot on the Fujifilm X-T2 + XF16-55mm f2.8 lens.  The portrait was shot on the Fujifilm GFX50S + GF32-64mm f4 lens. This post is the 1500th since I began this blog back in 2011 and...

Monza Pitlane with the GFX

Image
As a pitlane / portrait camera the Fujifilm GFX50S continues to impress.  I decided to take it for a walk in the pitlane during the set up day for the 4 Hours of Monza weekend, which wil be round 2 of the 2017 European Le Mans Series this Sunday. All of the images were shot using the GF120mm f4 macro lens, which is a really useful portrait lens as well as a close focusing lens.  I still prefer the 110mm f2 lens I tried in Spa last weekend but the results from the 120mm don't disappoint. I will be shooting more images at Monza over the next few days, so check back for these and my initial conclusions on the new Fujifilm GFX50S. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE SUPPORT THIS BLOG BY VISITING THE ADVERTISERS ON THIS PAGE By clicking on the adverts you are helping support this blog - thank you. ...

Shooting Sports as a Spectator Part 4: Water Ski & Wakeboard

Image
In the fourth part of my series of showing how to shoot various sports and get great action images without the need of a media pass for Fujifilm I visited the Hazelwood Ski World centre near Lincoln to attend a Malibu 3 Round Trick event. CLICK HERE to view the latest feature on the Fujifilm website This is the first sport in this series that I have never shot before so I went online and checked out as many images and videos as I could before I traveled to the event so as to get better understanding of the sport I was going to shoot. Shooting Sports as a Spectator Part 4: Wakeboarding from Fujifilm X Adventure on Vimeo . I spent an enjoyable day in the sunshine lakeside photographing some very talent people competing in an extreme sport that I hadn't considered shooting before. Check out your nearest water ski or wakeboard event via the official website at www.bwsw.org.uk   ...
