Hungarian Bronze Policeman

Image
While out and about in Budapest we came across this statue of a lifesize Hungarian 19th century or early 20th century policeman.  These type of statues provoke a sense of humour and, of course, we had to partake of a little fun.   Here is our ELMS Race Director Eduardo Freitas posing with the statue, I think it could be a long lost Hungarian relation. Liberty Bridge in Budapest

Image
A walk around Budapest yesterday evening saw us walking down towards the bridges on the River Danube.  The bridge that caught my eye was the Szabadság híd or Liberty Bridge which was originally called the Franz Josef bridge after the emporer who opened the crossing from Buda to Pest in1896 after two years of construction. St Stephen's Basilica, Budapest

Image
Last night we went down into central Budapest for dinner, just around the corner from the beautiful St Stephen's cathedral.  We are in the Hungarian capital for the fourth round of the European Le Mans Series and we had a small window of opportunity to grab some images.  We hope to get some pictures for this beautiful city this evening. Wreck at Barns Ness

Image
Just below the lighthouse at Barns Ness there is a wooden structure that looks like the wreck of a wooden barge.  The wood has weathered to give some some beautiful shapes and colours and the iron bolts have rusted away to a wonderful red and orange colour.  I don't know the history of this structure but I have added this to my growing list of photographic subjects to return to on the East Lothian coastline. Barns Ness Lighthouse, East Lothian

Image
T he Barns Ness Lighthouse was my first photographic subject when we arrived from England on the 31st July.  I've been meaning to go down to the shore and take some more images of the tower and yesterday the conditions were perfect for a short walk to get some pictures on the Fuji X100S before it is returned next week. The first shot is actually three images stitched together in Photoshop Elements 11 looking northwards towards the lighthouse and the North Sea beyond. HISTORY - from Northern Lighthouse Board website HERE The Lighthouse at Barns Ness was built by David A Stevenson, Engineer to the Commissioners. The light was first exhibited on 1 October 1901, approximately 2½ years after building operations commenced. The tower is 121 feet high, and is constructed of stone from Craigree (near Cramond) and Barnton quarries, as are the other buildings. The stone has proved to be tough as Barns Ness was machine gunned during the War, and no damage was sustained.  ...

Winter Cabbage Field

Image
The landscape around Dunbar ranges from agricultural, to coast and to moorland and s ometimes the landscape changes in a very short space.  Take this field of winter cabbage, it is situated less than quareter of a mile from the sand dunes behind the beach at Ravenhaugh Sands.  I was draw to the field by the mass of green and the texture in the leaves.  Using the shallow depth of field of the Nikon 50mm lens I was able to focus on one area of the field and throw the rest of the frame out of focus. Both images were taken on a Nikon D800 fitted with a Nikkor 50mm f1.4 AF-D lens. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE SUPPORT THIS BLOG BY CLICKING THE GOOGLE ADVERTS It doesn't cost you anything to click on an advert but we get a small fee for every click thru from Google and this helps support this blog - thank you for helping ---------------------------------------------------...

Grantham Market Place

Image
A quick trip south back to Grantham to pick up some of the furniture we had left behind five weeks ago when we moved to Dunbar enabled me to have photograph the town where we had spent the last 23 years.  The Market Place received a make over a couple of years ago, receiving a larger pedestrian area with less car parking.  The old market cross is the central focal point of the area and the area around it has been sympathetically restored. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE SUPPORT THIS BLOG BY CLICKING THE GOOGLE ADVERTS It doesn't cost you anything to click on an advert but we get a small fee for every click thru from Google and this helps support this blog - thank you for helping ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ALL IMAGES ARE THE PROPERTY OF MACLEAN PHOTOGRAPHIC AND CANNOT BE USED FOR ANY PUR...
