An Afternoon in Bellagio, Lake Como

Lake Como is full of picturesque towns nestling on the side of tall mountains with brightly coloured houses and narrow cobbled streets bustling with tourists and traders.  Bellagio sits on the peninsula at the fork in Lake Como and is a popular destination for anyone looking for that typical Italian Lake experience. We decided to take the passenger ferry from Menaggio across to Bellagio as the drive was going to be a lot longer and the thought of that journey through the narrow, windy mountain roads did not appeal.  The journey on the boat via Verenna took around 30 minutes but it soon sped by as we took in the wonderful scenery as the ferry crossed the lake. Bellagio is known as the “Pearl of the Lake”, with world class hotels and restaurants providing the perfect place to soak up the lake's famous panorama. Night Time in Snowy Grantham

Continuing my trip around snow covered Grantham I decided to head into town yesterday evening to capture some images with my Fuji X100 and a tripod around the old parts of the town and the River Witham. River Witham and the River Walk near Grantham College The street lighting gives the snow a yellow tinge and the reflective surface of the snow allows plenty of light into the scene.  It is strange because if there was no snow I wouldn't normally bother with some of the pictures I took, however the whole area takes on a magical quality just because the ground and trees are covered in the white stuff. Grantham Cemetery Grantham Cemetery First stop was Grantham Cemetery where the old chapel was lit by the faint glow of the street lights on Harrowby Road.
