CAPTURE NEW HORIZONS

Street Photography is a very difficult genre to get right and I am by no means an expert at it.  I joined a Fujiholics Street Photography tour of Edinburgh with fellow X-Photographer Matt Hart to test the new Fujifilm X-T10 and the XF90mm f2 Fujinon lens. This sax player was under one of the bridges leading to the Grassmarket in Edinburgh and the side lighting was perfect for a shot on the X-T10 and 90mm lens.  The shot was transformed into a moody mono in Silver Efex Pro2. Last Sunday I joined fellow X-Photographer Matt Hart and some other X-Series users for a Fujiholics Street Photography walk around Edinburgh. It was also the last opportunity for me to test out the Fujifilm X-T10 before it was returned to Fujifilm HQ in Bedford.  I will give my conclusions at the bottom of this blog. I will be the first to admit that Street Photography is not my forte but I do like observing people.  The X-T10 and 90mm is a perfect combination for me as the small X-T10 doesn't attract attention while the 90mm f2 allows me to stand further back and blend into the background. Most of the images on this blog were taken on the X-T10 - 90mm combination but there are some images taken on the X-T1 and 16mm f1.4. We started our walk at Haymarket railway station and headed towards Grassmarket where there are plenty of bars and cafes where the tourist hang out. Yesterday I posted 20+ images from the Red Arrows display at the National Airshow at East Fortune on Saturday and today here are another 50+ images from a great day out in East Lothian. The airshow gave me a great opportunity to capture people images as well as aircraft, both moving and static, with a combination of the Fujifilm X-T1 and X-T10 fitted with the XF16mm f1.4, XF90mm f2 or XF50-140mm f2.8 lenses. Most of the people shots were captured on the 90mm f2 and this is a stunning street lens.  The 135mm equivalent focal length allowed me to stand further away than if I was using the 56mm f1.2 and it isn't as big on the camera as the 50-140mm zoom.  I also used the X-T10 and the 90mm to capture some aerial action shots, including the image of the TRIG sponsored Pitts Specials above and the four Red Arrow images at the bottom of the page.
