Hi Key Panoramic Image

Image
Yesterday I went for a walk on Whitesands beach which a few miles east of Dunbar on the East Lothian coast.  There is a nice view from the west end of this small sand beach across the bay to Barns Ness lighthouse and it is one of my favourite locations for telephoto shots of the lighthouse. The light yesterday evening was very soft and pastel colours.  Fitting the XF100-400mm zoom to the Fujifilm X-T2 I took this shot of the lighthouse, using the short end of the zoom range to frame the image. I over exposed the image slightly to give a Hi Key effect and then I converted the image to black and white in NIK Silver EFEX Pro 2 software in post production after tweaking the RAW image in Lightroom and then Photoshop CC. The image was then cropped 12:5 ratio to give this finished panoramic image. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE SUPPORT THIS BLOG BY VISITING THE ADVERTISERS ON TH...

Merry Christmas - Sandman on White Sands Beach

Image
Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy 2015.  This year has been a great one for everyone at MacLean Photographic.   This was a shot I took on the X-Pro1 + 35mm f1.4 in October for our 2014 Christmas cards.  We built a sandman on White Sands beach and found shells, pebbles, seaweed and some driftwood to make the eyes, nose, buttons and arms.  My trusty woolly hat finished the ensemble. I'm sure a few people did a double take while walking their dogs along the beach but we didn't care.  It was quite enjoyable building a sandman but I think we may get the opportunity soon to build a snowman in Dunbar.  Here's hoping! The MacLean Photographic blog will be taking a break for a few days for the festivities and the next post will be on the 27 December. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE SUPPORT THIS BLOG BY VISITING THE ADVERTISERS ON THIS PA...

The Simplest of Things

Image
Sometimes the simplest of compositions can make an interesting picture and this images of a rock on the beach is a good example. The red sandstone pebble, the white sand of the beach and the blue sea beyond makes for a colourful contrast, while the shallow depth of field has concentrated the viewers focus on the pebble. This was taken at Whitesands beach near Dunbar using the Fujifilm X-Pro1 and the XF35mm f1.4 lens.  An exposure of 1/80 @ f8 (200 iso) was used. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE SUPPORT THIS BLOG BY VISITING THE ADVERTISERS ON THIS PAGE By clicking on the adverts you are helping support this blog - thank you. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ALL IMAGES ARE THE PROPERTY OF MACLEAN PHOTOGRAPHIC AND CANNOT BE USED FOR ANY PURPOSE WITHOUT PRIOR PERMISSION If you like what you s...

Barns Ness Lighthouse, Dunbar

Image
Our first full day as Scottish residents was spent with the usual unpacking of boxes and trips to Ikea and Asda to stock up the house and the food cupboards.  After a busy day we decided to head down to the beach at White Sands to remind ourselves why we moved to Dunbar.  We walked round the headland towards Barns Ness and the lighthouse on the point. This will be one of my regular photographic haunts in the coming years.  Barns Ness White Sands Images taken on the Fujifilm Finepix X100 and 23mm f2 Fujinon lens ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE SUPPORT THIS BLOG BY CLICKING THE GOOGLE ADVERTS It doesn't cost you anything to click on an advert but we get a small fee for every click thru from Google and this helps support this blog - thank you for helping ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ...
