Japanese Signs

I find Japanese writing to be visually one of the most beautiful languages in the world and while I don't have a clue how to read Japanese I do appreciate how it looks.  When walking around Suzuka on our last evening before heading to Tokyo I started to see signs all around the city in different forms, from manhole covers to restaurant menus to neon signs, so I decided to take pictures of some of the most visually interesting ones for this blog. Race Day at Suzuka

Image
Today is race day at the Japanese Grand Prix in Suzuka and the fans are pouring into the circuit.  The Japanese fans are amongst the most loyal and fanatical race fans in the world and openly display their allegiance to which ever driver or team.  The fan area on the opposite side of the track from the paddock was the place to be today and I got plenty of images of people enjoying the warm sunshine. Afterwards I headed back over to the paddock and had a look around the McLaren and Torro Rosso garages before heading back up to the media centre. Being on the inside of Formula One gives you a different perspective than the one you get on TV and there isn't a huge difference to how we do things in the WEC, it is just F1 has more resources to get things done. I watch qualifying from the media centre and then observed the press conference and the TV compound in the paddock.  Mark Webber took pole position ahead of Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton, which is very good for me as the Australian is leaving F1 at the end of the season to join us in WEC with the new Porsche LMP1 challenge.  I have everything crossed that Mark will win the race and give ...
