Testing Fujifilm's two f2.8 Zoom Lenses

Image
Taken on the XF16-55mm f2.8R LM WR For the past week I have been in Japan working on the FIA World Endurance Championship event at Fuji Speedway and also attending an X-Photographers meeting and filming at Fujifilm HQ in Tokyo.  Since June I have been using the Fujinon XF50-140mm f2.8 and this week I have been given the XF16-55mm f2.8 to test. I will be producing a full test report for this blog  next week when I get back from the European Le Mans Series season finale in Portugal but my first impressions of the 16-55mm f2.8 is this is am impressive lens and worthy of the excellent coverage and awards it has been receiving in the photographic press and online.   The 16-55mm is a big lens, but to get a f2.8 constant aperture it was never going to be small.  However, unlike the 50-140mm, the lens increases in size as you zoom, where the zoom movements are internal on the 50-140mm. Another difference between the two lenses is the inclusion of an Optical Image ...

The Meiji Jingu Shrine

Shinto has no founder, no holy book, and not even the concept of religious conversion, but Shinto values for example harmony with nature and virtues such as "Magokoro (sincere heart)". In Shinto, some divinity is found as Kami (divine spirit), or it may be said that there is an unlimited number of Kami. You can see Kami in mythology, in nature, and in human beings. From ancient times, Japanese people have felt awe and gratit...

Sake Barrels at Meiji Jingu, Tokyo

Image
I was reviewing the images I took on the recent trip to Japan and I came across some pictures from the Meiji Jingu Shrine in Tokyo. These are Sake Barrels that are offered each year to the memory of the Emperor Meiji and the Empress Shoken by the Meiji Jingu Nationwide Sake Brewers Association.  These colourful straw covered barrels are each individually painted and are on display to visitors to the shrine.   CLICK HERE  to see more information about the Meiji Jingu Shrine. All the images were taken on a Nikon D800 and Nikon 17-35mm f2.8 lens ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE SUPPORT THIS BLOG BY CLICKING THE GOOGLE ADVERTS It doesn't cost you anything to click on an advert but we get a small fee for every click thru from Google and this helps support this blog - thank you for helping ------------------------------------------------------------------...
