The Old Wooden Platform at Barns Ness

Image
While I was out at Barns Ness on Monday conducting the latest 'Back to Basics' MacLean Photographic workshop I decided to stop by the old wooden platform that is beached near the lighthouse.   The platform is in a fair state of decay but the shapes and colours are wonderful and it is a good subject to point a camera lens at.  The wide sweeping landscapes are not the only photographic subject and I advise my students to look out for all opportunities, both large and small. The ends of the beams have been weathered into beautiful patterns with the rings in the wood standing out in layers.  The rusted bolts provide a colourful counterpoint to the grey of the wood, which moss and lichen also provide a splash of colour. I used the Fujifilm X-Pro2 and 90mm f2 lens to capture this set of images.
