People Watching at Fuji Speedway

Image
People watching at Fuji Speedway is a great past time and the majority of the Japanese fans love to have their photograph taken if you ask.   I spent the pitwalk using the X-T2 with the XF100-400mm taking pictures of people enjoying the sunshine and collecting autographs and selfies with their favourite drivers.  With a few thousand people in the pitlane it gave me an opportunity to further test the X-T2s AF-C custom function, selecting set 2 (ignore obstacles and continue to track subject).  Once the X-T2 had locked on to the selected person I was able to continue to track them despite people walking between them and the camera. Here is a selection of images that were converted to black and white in post production using the NIK Silver EFEX.   ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE SUPPORT THIS BLOG BY VISITING THE ADVERTISERS ON THIS...

REVIEW: The New Fujinon 2x Converter

Image
Yesterday Fujifilm launched the latest edition to the Fujinon XF lens line up, the XF 2X TC WR teleconverter for use with the XF50-140mm f2.8 and XF100-400mm f4.5/5.6 zoom lenses.  In April I was invited by Fujifilm to test the new converter and here are my thoughts on this new lens. Before I go into details I need to be upfront about something.  I've never been a fan of 2x converters because the optical quality of the lens is usually affected to a large degree.   I did have a 1.4x and 2x converter for my lenses when I was shooting with Nikon. While the 1.4x converter was regularly attached to my long f2.8 lenses, the 2x converter was probably used about three times in the 18 years I used Nikkor lenses.  I didn't like the results when using the converter so tended to not use it. Anyway back to the X-Series!  The 1.4x Fujinon converter was launched in 2015 and I have been a fan of this diminutive lens attachment on both the 50-140mm and 100-400mm....

In the Pitlane at Le Mans

Image
Neel Jani - Porsche The atmosphere during Tuesday at Le Mans is a little bit of the calm before the storm as it is the final day before track action begins.  It is an opportunity for the public to grab another autograph or three and a selfie with their favourite drivers.  The cars are also on display for all to see. I wandered around the pitlane chatting to a few drivers and this gave me the opportunity to grab a few more portraits and atmosphere shots on the pair of X-T1s. The first X-T1 was fitted with the 10-24mm f4 wide angle zoom and the second body was fitted with the 50-140mm f2.8.  This combination gave me maximum flexibility without the need to keep swapping lenses and I was able to concentrate on getting the best images. Sunrise on Race Day in Imola

Image
Today is race day at the  Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari di   Imola and after rain yesterday is was with to the relief of the whole paddock that the weather has turned 'Italian' this morning with unbroken sunshine and high temperatures on the forecast today. I walked from the hotel to the track and stopped off to take some sunny pictures for the official ELMS website.  The first was of the sun reflecting off the trucks lined up in the paddock before I headed into the pitlane where the Murphy Prototypes team were practising their pitstops ahead of this afternoon's race. All the images were taken on a Fujifilm X-T1 with a Fujinon 10-24mm f4 fitted with a Lee 0.6 soft ND Grad filter. Image
Today the track action begins for the final round of the FIA World Endurance Championship in Sao Paulo and all of the teams and drivers are prepared for the first free practice session that begins at 13:00 (local) / 15:00 GMT this afternoon. Yesterday I went down to the scrutineering bay to get some shots of the GT cars going through their technical checks and also conducting some pitstop practice in the pitlane. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE SUPPORT THIS BLOG BY VISITING THE ADVERTISERS ON THIS PAGE By clicking on the adverts you are helping support this blog - thank you. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ALL IMAGES ARE THE PROPERTY OF MACLEAN PHOTOGRAPHIC AND CANNOT BE USED FOR ANY PURPOSE WITHOUT PRIOR PERMISSION If you like what you see on this blog please visit our  Face...
