The Dunbar Dip 2016

Image
The traditional New Year's Day dip in the sea took place this afternoon around the UK coast and plenty of hardy souls braved the cold weather and even colder water in the name of charity this afternoon here in Dunbar. I was certainly wrapped up warm as I took these images.  I'd like to say I took my hat off to these brave people but it was even too cold to do that and my wooly hat stayed firmly on my head. Well done to those who took part, to organiser Dennis Murphy and his team and those who supported the efforts including the RNLI.   As well as personal charities, the Dippers were raising money for the  East Lothian Special Needs Playscheme.  www.elsnp.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE SUPPORT THIS BLOG BY VISITING THE ADVERTISERS ON THIS PAGE By clicking on the adverts yo...

Loony Dook 2015

Image
On New Years Day the annual 'Loony Dook' took place from East Beach in Dunbar where hundreds of hardy souls brave the wintery North Sea to raise money for charity, which this year is fue Sue Ryder. Now I have to be honest I am not one of those hardy souls, I wouldn't even brave the waters off the East Lothian coast in August in a wet suit, let alone in the depths of winter with no protective clothing.  However we did go along to support those whose efforts were raising money for a good cause. All images were taken on the Fujifilm X-T1 with a 55-200mm lens or the Fujifilm X-Pro1 + 10-24mm ultra wide zoom. Here are some pictures from yesterday's event. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE SUPPORT THIS BLOG BY VISITING THE ADVERTISERS ON THIS PAGE By clicking on the adverts you are helping support this blog - thank you. ...

The Dunbar Dip 2014

Image
On New Years Day 2014 we witnessed our first Dunbar Dip where the more hardier residents of our new home town brave the cold North Sea waters off the East Beach to raise money for charity.  Over 100 brave souls went into the water while many more, ourselves included, stayed wrapped up warm but lending our support to their endeavors to raise money for charity.  Members of the Dunbar life boat crew were on hand to make sure everyone was safe. Will I be taking part in 2015?  Not a chance! All images taken on a Fujifilm X-Pro1 and 60mm f2.4 lens or Fujifilm X100 and 23mm f2 lens. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE SUPPORT THIS BLOG BY CLICKING THE GOOGLE ADVERTS It doesn't cost you anything to click on an advert but we get a small fee for every click thru from Google and this helps support this blog - thank you for helping -------------------...
