Press Conference at Nurburgring

Image
Stefan Mucke - no66 Ford GT As part of the build up to any weekend on the FIA World Endurance Championship calendar six drivers are invited to the pre event press conference. The drivers could be invited because they are from the host country or they are leading the championship or had a good race in the previous round.  For the 6 Hours of Nurburgring three German drivers were there - Timo Bernhard (Porsche), Stefan Mucke (Ford) and Marvin Dienst (Dempsey Proton Racing).  The other drivers were Anthony Davidson (GBR) from Toyota, Vitaly Petrov (RUS) from CEFC Manor TRS Racing and David Cheng from Jackie Chan DC Racing. As usual I record the press conference on the Fujifilm X-T2 fitted with a 10-24mm f4 lens due to the fact the press conference room is an awkward shape and the camera tripod has to be sited near to the drivers.   The press conference video is streamed on the FIA website via the world governing bodies YouTube channel. I also use the second X...

Nurburgring Panorama

Image
If you read this blog on a regular basis you will be aware that I love the 12:5 panoramic format.  For motorsport I tend to shooting full frame images with this in mind so I can crop in post production or I shoot images using the X-T1 / X-T2s panoramic mode in camera.  However this isn't possible for action shots so all of the images here were shot and then cropped in post production. These were shot at the Nurburgring last weekend with some during Free Practice on Friday and some on Sunday at the start of the 6 Hours of Nurburgring, round 4 of the FIA World Endurance Championship. The race was eventually won by the no1 Porsche of Mark Webber, Brandon Hartley and Timo Bernhard. The images were either shot on the Fujifilm X-T2 and XF50-140mm f2.8 + 1.4x converter or the XF100-400mm f4.5/5.6 or the Fujifilm X-Pro2 + XF10-24mm or XF16-55mm f2.8. ----------------------------------------------------------...

Clash of the Titans

Image
The start of the 6 Hours of Nurburgring saw the usual rush to the first corner.  The track in the Eifel is a little tighter than most circuits at Turn 1 and each driver tries to be the first to the inside of the corner to move into the lead. The LMGTE Pro start saw the pole sitter in the no95 Aston Martin go through but on lap 2 there was contact between Richie Stanaway (no97 Aston Martin) and Stefan Mucke (no66 Ford GT) as they fought for second place. I captured this sequence of shots on the Fujifilm X-T2 + XF50-140mm f2.8 + 1.4x converter with the camera set to AF-C (custom setting 3), 8 fps and the exposure at 1/250s @ f10 and 200 ISO. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE SUPPORT THIS BLOG BY VISITING THE ADVERTISERS ON THIS PAGE By clicking on the adverts you are helping support this blog - thank you. -----------...

Nurburg Castle in the Mist

Image
Today is race day for the FIA World Endurance Championship at the Nurburgring in Germany.  Yesterday was misty and wet with dry spells which did provide some interesting track conditions for qualifying.   On the way back to the hotel in Nurburg the cloud cover that had engulfed the castle overlooking the circuit started to appear just after sunset, so I grabbed the X-T2 and XF50-140mm f2.8 and walked up the road from the hotel to get a few images. After 30 minutes the clouds came back in and covered the castle back up for the night. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE SUPPORT THIS BLOG BY VISITING THE ADVERTISERS ON THIS PAGE By clicking on the adverts you are helping support this blog - thank you. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ALL IMAGES ...

Postcard from the Nurburgring

Image
This weekend I am at the Nurburgring for Round 4 of the FIA World Endurance Championship.  Yesterday was the first day of track action with two 90-minute Free Practice sessions.   I went trackside in my capacity as the FIA Media Delegate to check on the restricted areas (Red Zones) around the track and to make sure the photographers were observing the safety rules I had given them earlier in the day at the Photographers Safety Briefing. I also took the Fujifilm X-T2 and X-Pro2 along with the XF100-400mm f4.5/5.6, the XF50-140mm f2.8, XF16-55mm f2.8 and the XF10-24mm f4.  Here are some of the images I shot trackside. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE SUPPORT THIS BLOG BY VISITING THE ADVERTISERS ON THIS PAGE By clicking on the adverts you are helping support this blog - thank you. ---...
