Sports Car Action All the Way at Monza

Image
Today I fly home to Scotland after a busy week at the home of Italian motorsport, the Autodromo Nazionale Monza near Milan.   The week started with the two day Official Test for the European Le Mans Series and concluded yesterday evening after two days testing for the FIA World Endurance Championship. I was able to get trackside for a couple of hours in each of the tests and here is a selection of my favourite action images shot on the Fujifilm X-T2 or X-Pro2. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE SUPPORT THIS BLOG BY VISITING THE ADVERTISERS ON THIS PAGE By clicking on the adverts you are helping support this blog - thank you. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ...

REVIEW: Six Months with the X-Pro2

Image
Well I have reached the six month point of using the new Fujifilm X-Pro2 in the field and now it is time to report back on my findings.   As an X-Photographer I obtained a pre production model back in November 2015 and was asked to fully test its capabilities and send my feedback on a regular basis.  This meant that the final version that was launched in January 2016 in Tokyo (where I was invited to take part in the press conference ) that finally hit the shelves in February / March had received some real world testing from the 100 X-Photographer chosen worldwide using the camera in a variety of different situations. I received the prototype X-Pro2 on my return from the last round of the FIA World Endurance Championship in Bahrain and the end of November so I wasn't able to test the X-Pro2 on motorsport until well into 2016.  As regular readers of this blog will know I also tested the 1...

The Colours of Paul Ricard

The colours of the kerbs and buildings on and around the Circuit Paul Ricard are vibrant and bright. Today was the set up day for the European Le Mans Series ahead of the two day test that begins tomorrow.  Using the Fujifilm X-Pro2 and 50-140mm f2.8 or 10-24mm f4 lenses I took some shots around the facility.

The World's Largest Bronze Buddha

On our second day in Kyoto we travelled by coach to Nara, a small town located about 60-minutes outside of Kyoto. Our first stop was the temple of  Tōdai-ji to see the world's largest bronze statue of Buddha. Tōdai-ji  (Eastern Great Temple), is a Buddhist temple complex, that was once one of the powerful Seven Great Temples.    Its Great Buddha Hall (Daibutsuden), houses the 49 foot  / 15m high bronze statue of the Buddha, known in Japanese simply as Daibutsu. The temple also serves as the Japanese headquarters of the Kegon school of Buddhism.  The temple is a listed UNESCO World Heritage Site as one of the "Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara", together with seven other sites including temples, shrines and places in the city of Nara.   The Great Buddha Hall (Daibutsuden) has been rebuilt twice after fire. The current building was finished in 1709, and although immense—57 metres (187 ft) long and 50 metres (160 ft) wide—it is ...
