Christmas on the Champs-Élysées

Image
After the FIA Awards Gala at the Lido de Paris had finished I decided to walk back to my hotel near to the Opera House so I could take in the Christmas lights on the  Champs-Élysées before I headed to the airport to catch the plane back to London a few hours later. The awards ceremony didn't finish until 1am so by the time I had walked from the Lido de Paris at the top of the  Champs-Élysées many of the stalls in the Christmas Village that line both sides of the avenue from the Grand Palais down to Place de la Concorde were shut.  But the lights were still ablaze and there were still people walking and enjoying the scene. Here are some of the pictures I captured on the Fujifilm X-T1 and XF16-55mm f2.8 during my short Christmas walk in Paris. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE SUPPORT THIS BLOG BY VISITING THE ADVERTISERS ON THIS PAGE By click...

The Grand Palais des Champs-Élysées

Image
This is one of my favourite shots from last weeks visit to Paris.  I was walking down the  Champs-Élysées  in the bright winter sunshine, which was low in the sky behind the Grand Palais and caused a lot of flare around the statue of President Charles de Gaulle. Using the Fujifilm X100 I took several shots of the scene, underexposing slightly to saturate the colours of the blue sky and the Tricolour flying behind the bronze quadrica, one of four by Georges Recipon waging depicts Immortality prevailing over Time. Early Morning Sunshine on the Champs-Élysées

Image
Another beautiful morning in Paris yesterday made the second walk to the office extremely pleasant experience and gave me another perfect opportunity to get the X100 out of the backpack to take a few images. This shot was taken from the top of the  Champs-Élysées looking down the row of lamp posts in the early morning light.   I managed to capture the shot without any people, the  Champs-Élysées looks deserted, when in fact this was taken at 8:40am and this part of Paris is extremely busy with people heading to work or with tourists making an early start to the day. The image was taken on the Fujifilm X100 with the fixed 23mm f2 Fujinon lens. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE SUPPORT THIS BLOG BY VISITING THE ADVERTISERS ON THIS PAGE By clicking on the adverts you are helping support this blog - thank you. ---------------------------------------------------------...
