CAPTURE NEW HORIZONS

Over the next few weeks we will be reviewing our year and what a year it has been.  We have traveled to the USA, Brazil, Japan, China, Bahrain, Qatar, France, Belgium, Austria, Italy, Portugal with the FIA World Endurance Championship and the European Le Mans Series.   However the highlight of 2014 we are starting with first are the cars we have driven and photographed this year. It started in March with the Aston Martin Vantage S V12 ( HERE ) which we had for two days to write a report for the official FIA WEC website and for the Silverstone programme.  This was an amazing car and a personal dream come true to have the exclusive use of an Aston Martin on the road for two whole days. The official cars for the FIA World Endurance Championship are provided by Audi and at each round of the world championship a number of cars are provided for functions such as Safety Car, Medical Car and Course Car. Yesterday morning the Audi R8 quattro that was being used as the Safety car this weekend was on the track for a photo opportunity with 1 54 children from the 6th Grade at Gotenba Minami School were the first to visit this morning and the children, all aged between 10 and 11 years old. Last week I posted a couple of 'sneak peek' images of the Audi R8 I had on loan from the Audi UK Press Office for a feature I was writing for the FIA World Endurance Championship website and the championship's official social media feeds.   This feature is now live HERE and so I can unveil the other images from the three days I had with the car. The Audi R8 is a staggering machine but then, for nearly £100K, you would expect it to be.  With a top speed of 188mph (not that I got to test that figure of course) and 0-60mph is 4.6 seconds the performance seriously impressive but it was the usability of the R8 as an everyday car was the best bit.  This isn't a stripped out race car but a luxury Audi that could blow the socks off most other cars on the open road.  A very early start on Wednesday morning was nearly called off when heavy fog blanketed the East Lothian coast but a little voice at the back of my head told me to get up and get out to White S...

Over the past few days I have been working on a car feature for the FIA World Endurance Championship website and have been photographing an Audi R8 V8 quattro in and around Dunbar (more on that in the next few days).   On Wednesday morning I got up early to take the car to White Sands, Barns Ness and Dunbar Harbour to take some shots of the car in these beautiful locations but when I looked out of the window there was thick fog and I could hardly see the house across the road.  I nearly got back into bed but something at the back of my mind said 'get out there, it will be fine'.   So I got into the car and headed down to White Sands in the still 'pea souper' conditions.  However as I headed down the single track road to the beach I could see blue sky starting to appear above the beach.   I  parked the car and started to take some detail shots of the car and some moody 'in the mist' images (see main shot) but it wasn't what I wanted.   I wa...
